Famously called the 'Wink Girl' Priya turned into an internet sensation after a small teaser clip from the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi from her film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ released on social media. Leaving behind all the big actors of the film industry, Priya became 2018's Most Googled Celeb In India, owing to the huge popularity that she got from that wink video. Needless to say, post that there was no looking back for her.
In a recent interview with SpotBoyE.com, the South actress opened up her viral wink video and revealed how her life changed after that. Priya Prakash Varrier also mentioned that she feels she would not have been able to attain worldwide recognition like the way she did if that clip would not have gone viral.
Priya shared, “Definitely, I feel the power of social media is great. I belong to a very small place from Kerala so maybe even If I have tried and got to a level, I feel people from regional movies would have known about me, and then step by step, I would get to a level. But, I became an overnight sensation. A lot of things changed after that. People started recognizing me wherever I go. People still remember that clip. There is a lot of love and support constantly pouring in. It was a great thing that happened. Now, I feel it’s on me that I should work hard and put in efforts to keep up with the high expectations already on me.”
For the uninitiated, the Manikya Malaraya Poovi video, featuring Priya Prakash Varrier, shows the actress dressed in school uniform, winking at a fellow student, who is instantly floored by her. The video sent the entire Internet into a meltdown.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Priya, who made her Bollywood debut with Prasanth Mambully’s directorial 'Sridevi Bungalow' is now auditioning for the release of her second Hindi film ‘Love Hackers’, a crime thriller where she plays a cybercrime survivor.
